The New Ikebukuro Montparnasse Nishiguchi Art Museum Stroll is held every year from the end of May through the beginning of June with the goals of revitalizing the west exit area, contributing to community development as part of cultural promotion efforts on the west exit side of Ikebukuro Station, and reviving the spirit of "Ikebukuro Montparnasse" in the present day.
It is a big cultural event organized by the festival organizing committee, whose members include Zephyr—a community development NPO—Rikkyo University, Tobu Department Store, and the municipal government.
There are more than 40 venues, including Tobu Department Store, Toshima Historical Museum, galleries and coffee shops in the Ikebukuro Station west exit area, subway passageways, and show windows around town. Admission is free so you can enjoy as much as you like.
The event enables you to enjoy all kinds of art, including exhibits of works by artists connected with "Ikebukuro Montparnasse," artists currently engaged in creative pursuits who currently have a connection to Ikebukuro, and works by the children and students who will be the artists of the future.
